Upgrading and moving databases (1 reply)

I have a couple of tasks coming up that I need to try in a lab and would like to see if anyone has some general suggestions on how to go about them.

All of our MySQL servers are running version 5.0, on 32-bit systems. We would like to upgrade to 5.1, and run on 64-bit servers.

So can I just use MySQLdump to backup each database on the 5.0 server and restore it to the 64-bit 5.1 server? If not, what would the general steps be?
